The Canadian Diversity Initiative ("CDI," "we," "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through this Privacy Policy.
Our privacy practices are based on the ten principles of the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act ("PIPEDA"), and where applicable, Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector, as amended by Law 25.

Personal Information means information about an identifiable individual, but does not include the name, title, business address, or business telephone number of an employee of an organization.
Why We Collect Personal Information
We collect Personal Information to provide and manage online training services, including creating and maintaining student profiles, tracking course completion and training records, and communicating with you about your training and related services.
How We Collect Personal Information
We collect Personal Information only by fair and lawful means, and only what is reasonably necessary for the purposes identified in this policy and for which consent has been obtained.
Information You Provide: through registration, purchase, contact forms, and any other information you submit directly to us.
Automatically Collected Information: we use tools such as Google Analytics to collect non-identifying technical information, including browser type, device type, approximate location, and browsing patterns on the Website, for the purpose of understanding and improving Website performance. Where you have voluntarily provided Personal Information, this technical information may be associated with it.
Email Information: if you correspond with us by email, we retain the content of your messages, your email address, and our responses, with the same safeguards described below. All emails we send comply with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation ("CASL"), including clear sender identification and an unsubscribe mechanism in every commercial message.
How We Use Your Information
We use Personal Information to deliver the Website and training services, fulfill contracts between you and CDI, respond to inquiries, administer our business, and provide customer support. We do not use Personal Information for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects about you without appropriate safeguards and, where required by law, your right to request human review.
Disclosure of Information
We do not sell or rent Personal Information. We may disclose Personal Information:
- to service providers who support our operations (such as our learning management system provider, payment processors, and email delivery services), under agreements that limit their use of your information to the purposes we authorize;
- to a successor organization in the event of a merger, sale, or reorganization of CDI's business;
- when required by law, court order, or to protect CDI's legal rights.
We do not use Personal Information for third-party advertising or behavioural targeting.
Retention
We retain Personal Information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, meet our legal and contractual obligations, and support legitimate business records, typically for the duration of your relationship with CDI plus a reasonable period afterward for record-keeping and legal compliance. After that, information is securely deleted or anonymized.
Security Measures
We use physical, organizational, and technological safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information involved, including restricted access, password protections, and technical safeguards against unauthorized access. No transmission over the internet or email is fully secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Breach Notification
If we become aware of a breach of security safeguards involving Personal Information that creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, and where applicable, Quebec's Commission d'accès à l'information, as required by law.
Your Rights and How to Access Your Information
You may request access to, correction of, or withdrawal of consent for the use of your Personal Information, subject to legal and contractual limitations. We will respond to reasonable requests promptly and will advise you of any associated cost in advance. We may be unable to provide access to certain information in specific circumstances permitted by law.
If you are not satisfied with our response to a privacy concern, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or if you are a Quebec resident, the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.
Children's Information
Our courses are directed at adult learners and organizations. Where a course is intended for use by minors as part of an organizational program (for example, youth sport safeguarding training), the purchasing organization is responsible for obtaining any necessary parental or guardian consent before a minor accesses the training.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. The current version will always be posted on our Website, along with its effective date.
